How a Mother Dog Braved Extreme Cold and Hunger to Save Her Seven Pups from Death

The heart-wrenching sight of a mother dog sheltering her puppies in her arms, willing to sacrifice herself to keep them warm, left many people in tears. The 7 pups snuggled close to their mother, refusing to leave her side despite the biting cold and hunger. Russia is renowned for its extreme cold, with temperatures dropping to -55 or even -66 degrees Celsius in the northern regions. Different parts of the country experience temperatures ranging from 0 to -40 degrees Celsius, making it difficult for stray animals who cannot find shelter to survive. Just like human children, these pups did not want to be separated from their mother. On December 20, a snow removal worker stumbled upon the pups huddled together for warmth, whimpering and rubbing their noses against their mother. Unfortunately, the worker discovered that the mother dog had already passed away, her body stiff from the cold.

When the man discovered the mother dog dead on her side while she was nursing her seven puppies, he quickly tried to find a cardboard box to transfer them. However, the puppies managed to escape just as he was about to pick them up. The smallest pup remained whimpering in terror and biting her mother’s body. The sight of a devoted mother dog keeping her puppies warm despite freezing to death and the seven pups unwilling to leave their mother’s side even when hungry and cold, moved the snowman deeply. Consequently, he rushed to the rescue station and helped the staff locate the little dogs. Unfortunately, a snowstorm hit just as they reached the location, making it impossible for them to move the mother dog’s body. Despite this setback, the puppies refused to leave their mother’s side and even returned to search for her.

Thankfully, the recent snowstorm didn’t cause any major harm. However, it took the rescue team almost two whole days to locate all of the puppies.
Upon closer inspection, the team noticed that the mother dog was wearing a red collar, leading them to believe that she might have had an owner. It remains unclear whether she was abandoned or simply lost. Sadly, the mother dog passed away due to malnourishment, exhaustion, and hypothermia.
Despite their inability to save the mother dog, the rescuers managed to transport seven of her puppies to a nearby animal rescue center. The pups received top-notch care and attention and are now gearing up for a joyous Christmas with their fellow furry friends at the rescue center.
Attached are some adorable pictures of the puppies getting ready for the festive season, thanks to the efforts of the rescue center staff.
