Ilovemydogsomuch shared a sad story about a mother dog who was left behind at the Boone Area Humane Society while giving birth for an entire day. The situation was heartbreaking.
Things went from bad to worse, and she had to go through an emergency C-section. Unfortunately, during this critical procedure, she suffered two bouts of distress, which raised serious concerns about her survival. Thankfully, the veterinary team worked tirelessly, and eventually, her condition stabilized. They were able to save her life by giving her a blood transfusion, and she was placed in the Iowa State’s College of Veterinary Medicine’s ICU, where she received intensive care.
The Boone Area Humane Society recently shared a heartbreaking story on Facebook about a senior dog who had been subjected to multiple litters of puppies and left abandoned. The post revealed that despite her age, the mother dog managed to deliver an incredible 21 puppies, but tragically, none of them survived due to their underdeveloped state. The veterinarians did everything they could to save the puppies, but sadly, the harsh reality couldn’t be avoided. It’s a sad reminder of the cycle of breeding and abandonment that many dogs are forced to endure, and the toll it takes on their physical and emotional well-being.
Despite the sad story, there is a ray of hope as Ruthie, the strong-willed mother dog, is gradually getting better each day. She is now able to eat on her own and even has the energy to explore the outdoors. Her remarkable personality has earned her discharge from the hospital, and she has now been placed under the loving care of a kind foster family. In this supportive atmosphere, Ruthie’s path to recovery continues.
The Humane Society is working hard to seek justice for Ruthie, but it’s not an easy task as they try to hold the person responsible for abandoning her accountable. Unfortunately, Iowa’s animal protection laws are not very strict, making matters even harder. Ruthie’s story is a sad reminder of how animals suffer during tough times, highlighting the importance of better laws and more empathy towards these vulnerable creatures.
